Cricket 19 The Ashes 3rd Test at Headingley Day 2 - Retro 90s BBC Style Presentation

This is Highlights of the day 2 of the 3rd Ashes Test Match between England and Australia at Headingley Cricket Ground played on Cricket 19 on the PS4 Pro.

Cricket 19 Ashes mode and I’m playing as England on Veteran difficulty to try and wrangle the Ashes from Australia. England were famously thumped down under in the 2017/18 Ashes Series 4-0 – the massive improvements that Big Ant have made since Ashes Cricket in 2017 means Test Matches are much more of a contest and the slog fests, score 500 in 40 overs that the old games were. Currently in this series we are tied at 1-1 after Australia kept up their formidable record at Lords and levelled the series after winning by 126 runs.

I started to record this test after England won the World Cup (but hadn’t beaten Ireland at Lords yet) so the team might start to look similar to what has been played at Edgbaston, although I’d make some changes to what was selected. England have beaten the last two World Cup Winners in Test series in England (India in 2011 and Australia in 2015) but could they fall to the World Cup winners curse and loose their next test series?

In this Ashes series it’s the one you feel the Australians really want to win, so I’m looking forward to it to recreating a digital version, but I wanted to bring a sense of nostalgia to the broadcast.

In this Video I have also tried to bring in a bit more retro with the BBC Two indents at the beginning and watch out for some advertised shows that adds another throwback.

Cricket 19 is an excellent game. I have really enjoyed the Don Bradman series dating back to 2013, and this game is a pleasure, and bravo for securing a deal with the ECB and Cricket Australia for fully licensed players, kits, stadiums and equipment. Its brilliant being able to play at Lords or Old Trafford, so here is the promised full Ashes Series.

I have been playing with the graphics options and I have tried to make this video feel like a 1990’s BBC highlights show, although I’m no Tony Lewis or Richie Benaud I was a fan of their style of Cricket Presenting. My favorite time to watch Test Match Cricket was on Channel 4, from 1999 to 2005. Mark Nicholas was so suave and sophisticated in his presenting style as well as his fine worlds of commentary, he would be ideal to host BBC new cricket coverage from 2020. “Stephen Harmison, with the slower ball, one of the great balls!”

In the first test, England were able to win by 351 runs – In the 2nd test Australia won by 126 runs – check out my Ashes Playlist of all the games played so far
